9/25/2009 - A NEW START

There have been many developments for the feature film based on the short film "In Pieces." The first being that the last script attempt fell flat on it's face, like many other before it. But, I've identified the reason and now have a team of writers to try and knock this puppy out before the end of the year.

Tim Holt and Davis Osborne suggested that I compete in the Charlotte Film Community's 72-hour film contest. We had a little more than 24 hours to complete ours due to scheduling, but it was received really well. We dug John back up and introduced a new character into the fray as well. The chemistry between these two characters inspired us to start over. Check out the film on the MEDIA page.

So now, every Tuesday, Tim, Davis and I will meet until the script is done. Wish us luck.

5/1/2009 - WINNERS!

Congrats to everyone who worked on the Short Film version of In Pieces! Not only did it take 1st prize at DVXuser.com All Hallows Fest back at the end of 2007, and accepted into Action On in 2008, we just took home the top prize at the UNCC short film festival. A special thank you to Davis Osborne, not only did he come to the festival last night, but if not for his talent in making John Abbott Mitchell come to life, none of this would be possible!

4/20/2009 - Research!

Our Lead Davis Osborne made a contact on film he was working on that may help our script development greatly. One of the actor's mother's that he was working with is a criminal psycologist who has been profiling serial killers for decades. We promptly handed the short films to him so that she could see them. It will be AWESOME if we get to sit down and talk with this woman one-on-one, so that I can sculpt our maniac even more, and Davis can get a feel of the TRUE psyche of a serial killer. (although, i think he did a bang up job all by himself!)

script update and charlotte film community.

I've started to work on another short film to enter in DVXuser.com's quest fest coming this July, but that hasn't slowed my progress here, my actual celtx project hasn't grown any bigger, but I have to sift through pages and pages of handwritten notes I've made in order to start writing again.

Davis, Marie and I are going to the Charlotte film community meeting tonight where we are hoping to meet a bunch of people who could help us out.

3/16/09 - The Beginning.

I struggled for quite some time with the concept of a feature for John Abbott Mitchell, most everything I wrote (even scripts up to about 80 pages), turned into these predictable episodic stories, with a sequence that looked like this: find person-meet person-kill person, all with a slim string of a character arc to hold them together. I started to think about what would be a proper opposing force for JAM. I didn't want it to be a crime story, or for that matter, even want to write a "troubled cop catches killer" kind of script. The catalyst for this feature, was that the only thing that could even match John in scope ... was himself. Needless to say, the psychological element of the script is being enhanced.

3/10/09 - The Script.

I've started writing the script. It is an exciting and daunting task. Thematically, Narratively, and Visually, it will be much more dense than anything that I've attempted to write so far. But since we have such a solid outline, it's flowing much better than in the past. I am excited.
